Chique Hair Face Body Explain the Difference

Did you know there’s a difference between the terms Moisturising and hydrating when it comes to treatments and skincare products? Well there absolutely is! As skin therapists we’d like to educate you all on the difference between the two. It’s important that you feel confident when discussing your products in salon with your therapist and know that when you head home you have made the right decision.

Firstly, we need to remember that our skin is an organ, and what we eat and drink can affect it. It is critical that we keep our bodies and skin hydrated especially in the summer months. As the heat is super intense it tends to draw increased levels of water from our bodies causing dehydration, proving a great challenge to us in replenishing it. We do recommend increasing your water intake to 2-3 litres of pure water per day.
Chique TIP ( Different body masses require different volumes of water. A really cool way of working out roughly how much you should be drinking is to divide your body mass by 20. This will give you the number of glasses of water you should be consuming per day.)

Now in saying that, here’s the tricky truth, although not drinking enough water per day will definitely worsen the signs of dehydration in our skin and body, to help fix our skins current state, we move to a more topical solution (THE HYRATION SOLUTION). When we drink and eat something these substances still need to undergo the bodies natural processes before becoming effective therefore applying something topically to our skin will help start the natural repairing process and encourage the skin to build hydration levels once again.

Have you ever felt like your skin needs a massive drink of water? This may actually be the case. With such a wide variety of products on the market today, as a client it can be extremely overwhelming to work out necessary ingredients in each product and the benefits of each and how they are going to work for you. The most talked about topic in salon with clients today is the difference between moisture and hydration. To break it right down for you, dehydrated skin lacks water and therefore needs hydration or water. Dry skin lacks oil and therefore needs to me nourished and moisturised. It is so important to understand the difference between them so that the correct treatments are performed and proper products are purchased.

From a clients point of view, think of it like this……

Hydration makes our skin silky and soft, but it won’t stay that way without an oil barrier protecting it and allowing evaporation which will leave our skin feeling dry and flaky. Equally, to put oil on already dehydrated skin may encourage a smoothing effect, it will still lack the hydration that makes it feel soft and elastic.

Now that we have explained the difference between the two concepts and you understand the benefits its time to find the right products to suit your concern. We have listed our absolute must haves in salon to help you combat your concerns.

Hydration – Hydrating Products

Intensive face and neck hydration concentrate serum for all skin types, particularly suited in cases of severe dehydration.

Moisture – Moisturising and Nourishing products

Discover Multi-Functional SuperLUX for Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation

Discover Multi-Functional SuperLUX for Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation!

SuperLUX is an industry leader in IPL technology that uses rapid low energy light waves to painlessly target and heat hair follicles in half the time of traditional IPL services.

From The Global Beauty Group, SuperLUX offers multifunctional complimentary treatment modes for skin rejuvenation, pigmentation correction, vascular therapy and acne management.

SuperLUX works by delivering rapid successions of low energy pulses onto the skin, gradually heating hair follicles. This allows patients to benefit from swift, painless treatments with no discomfort or downtime.

The intense light wave technology also works to treat skin conditions such as vascular therapy and pigmentation correction. The light disperses hemoglobin in the vessels while fragmenting melanin pigments. The broken-down components are absorbed by the body, treating vascularisation and pigmentation.

The light waves also address acne management by reducing large pores, improving oiliness and controlling break outs.

SuperLUX comes with audio mode skin laxity treatment that utilises radio waves to penetrate the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin, immediately contracting collagen fibers for visible skin tightening. This firms up loose skin, reduces wrinkles and fine lines and smoothens skin texture.

IPL SHR (Super Hair Reduction) FAQs

How is SHR IPL hair reduction different?

SHR technology is a breakthrough innovation in IPL treatments. The difference between IPL SHR and other IPL machines is that SHR scans the treatment area with up to 10 flashes per second. This gradually heats the targeted area for painless hair reduction, instead of high intensity shots that can cause discomfort, experienced with traditional IPL.

Is IPL SHR hair reduction suitable for me?

Treatments are suitable for a wide range of skin types and hair colours. Your clinician will discuss your expected results during your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your individual hair type. Most clients require 8-10 sessions to achieve optimum results though hair will reduce and become finer with each treatment. For some, maintenance treatments may be required to achieve a lifetime of smooth skin. This will depend on a range of factors, which your clinician will discuss during consultation.

How long do I have to wait between treatments?

Treatments must be conducted at regular intervals. These vary depending on the area being treated. As an example, the face may be treated at 2-4-week intervals, while the chest, back and legs may be treated every 8 weeks.

What can I expect after my SHR IPL sessions?

Facial hair will take 7-10 days to fall out while body hair may take 2-3 weeks. Individual results will depend on your skin type, hair coarseness and natural growth cycle. Your clinician will be able to provide more information on what you can expect based on your individual situation during your consultation.

Q: What can be treated with intense pulsed light systems – IPL?

GBG trained therapists offer a range of cost effective and professional treatments including:

  • Permanent hair reduction
  • The elimination of sun spots, freckles and other skin discoloration
  • Removal of vascular lesions
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Acne reduction

Q: Who is suitable for intense pulsed light treatments – IPL?

  • Most people can have IPL treatment
  • Your trained therapist should be able to determine your suitability
  • Consult your Dr if you are not sure
  • People who have been tanning or have dark skin may be at higher risk

Q: Does IPL treatment hurt?

  • No skin desensitization is required
  • You may feel a slight level of discomfort with each application
  • This will reduce as the area being treated responds to the therapy

Q: Are there any side effects?

  • Short term effects are possible
  • Redness can occur in the area being treated
  • This will disappear soon after the treatment

Q: What about down time after the treatment?

  • Generally you can return to normal activities straight after
  • A minimum of 2 weeks is required before exposure to sunlight

Q: Number of treatments and treatment frequency for each application:

  • Permanent hair reduction: 8 – 10 treatments, spaced 2 – 8 weeks apart
  • Sun spot reduction: 4 – 6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart
  • Vascular lesions: 4 – 6 treatments, spaced 2 weeks apart
  • Skin rejuvenation: 4 – 6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart
  • Acne treatments: may be ongoing weekly or fortnightly

How long do IPL treatments take?

Your Intense Pulsed Light treatment takes around the same amount of time as a wax treatment for the same area.  The first visit will be around 30 minutes to perform as we need to do a patch test and ask you some questions.

Why do I have to have many IPL treatments for hair reduction?

IPL targets the hair compound called melanin, this give hair the colour (pigmentation). Melanin is most prevalent in hair during the early-anagen phase of hair growth, and hairs in this stage of growth are the ones most responsive to Intense Pulsed Light. Ongoing treatments are needed to catch each hair as it passes through this early-anagen stage of development, that may result due to hormonal fluctuations though out your life-time.

 Why are IPL treatments costly?

This simple reason for this is due to the high acquisition cost of machines, maintenance and the materials used during these treatments, are also very costly.  However, when you consider the cost of waxing over the years, in addition to the time it takes out of your busy day – the benefits outweigh the initial upfront cost.

Will I have to come back for repeat skin rejuvenation treatments?

In relation to pigmentation – If you have skin that is easily sun-damaged (freckled) and pre-caution is not taken to protect your skin, by using sunscreen daily, in addition to a Vitamin c Serum to inhibit melanin from developing, it is likely you will need “top-up” treatments.

In relation to vascular lesions – It will depend what the trigger was.  In some cases, you may only require a few treatments and no follow up, on the other hand, skin conditions such as Rosacea, will need on-going maintenance and home care for the best possible results.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Generally any part of the body can be treated. Exceptions include areas in close proximity to the eyes, the inner ear and nose.

The most popular areas for hair removal are the underarms, bikini, upper lip, chin, face, legs, back & chest.

The most popular areas for skin treatments are the face, arms, hands, décolletage and legs.

Whether your goal is hair reduction, skin correction or skin tightening, our SuperLUX can do it all! Book your consultation today by calling Chique Hair Face Body on 67729090 or visit us here to make an enquiry.

Hair and Makeup Checklist

Every bride wants to look absolutely incredible on her wedding day. It can be hard to know when to take care of certain hair and makeup rituals in the lead up to your wedding, so we composed a detailed checklist for you to follow so you’ll have every head turning as you walk down the aisle.
One Year to go:

• Makeup is best applied to flawless skin. Visit us in salon to assist in to targeting any problem areas – like acne, pigmentation, dehydration,  – right from the very beginning. This gives you plenty of time to treat any concerns, and allow generously for recovery time, should that be the case.

9 Months:

• Start compiling or creating a inspiration board with colour palettes ,makeup design and hair styles you like. You can use magazine articles, pictures or print some photos from the internet.

• We encourage our brides to visit us in salon to flip through some magazines we have been featured in as well as pour through our portfolio of work to gain some inspiration for hairstyles and makeup looks. If you have something drastic in mind for your hair, this is the time to experiment with cuts and colours. You want to make sure that what your actually thinking it will look like on you… it actually does. Take your time choosing… this is definately not the time to rush.

6 Months

• Start booking makeup and hair trials. Take your bridal scrapbook or mood board (or whatever else you have) to your initial consultation, to offer some inspiration. The more inspiration and ideas you can bring tot he table, the more understanding we have in creating your dream style.

4 Months
• As soon as you’ve decided on your styles, put down your deposit and pre-book some consultation dates to do at least one trial run.

3 Months

• At this stage you would have looked into specialised beauty treatments to help combat any skincare concerns you may have had before the big day. Take some time now to relax and rejuvenate the body by having a delicious Skin Specific Facial or Microdermabrasion. It is so important that you take some time out and look after your self. You want to be looking your absolute best on the day. If you don’t already, start exfoliating once a week. Its best at this stage to use a light enzyme exfoliant as they are much softer on the skin. It works by dissolving dead skin cells without rubbing, making it particularly suited to mature, delicate, or sensitive skin. Smooth skin will help your makeup look more natural and dewy.

•The same expectation with your hair.  The last thing you want on your wedding day is frizzy, brittle, discoloured hair because you thought you’d try out a new product on the day of your wedding. This is an important step- even if you’re having professionally done- because you’ll most likely need touch ups throughout the day. Enjoy an afternoon in salon treating yourself with a signature daviness PAK hair treatment. We recommend a series of at leat three treatments before the wedding to encourage hair growth and hydration.

2 Months

• Continue hydrating those locks, with regular deep conditioning treatments. A Skon Booster facial to help maintain hydration levels.

1 Month

• We recommend at this stage to get your hair cut and coloured, so that the ends can grow out slightly and sit naturally when we style on the wedding day.
• We also recommend having one last consultation with us reading both hair and makeup styles. Its very common for brides to want to change something slightly on the day. You may have seen a style a week or so after you had your trial and want to incorporate something from that. Its really important that we know before your wedding rather trying to just the styles on the day.

2 Weeks
• If your hair grows relatively fast, you might like to consider having your regrowth coloured again. We want your hair looking as fresh and as healthy as it can.

The Big Day

• Today is your day to sit back and relax and let us take care of you. We have been with you throughout your entire bridal journey its such an emotional day when everything we have worked with you on finally comes together. We want you to take a look at how fabulous you are in the mirror, walk down the aisle, and watch your groom’s jaw drop when he sees you for the first time.
Thank you Thank you Thank you for choosing Chique Hair Face Body. We loved every minute of it.

Master the hottest eyebrow trends for 2019

Thick, full brows with a slight arch are a natural sign of youth and beauty and are exactly what is on trend this year. Achieve the look yourself with a few simple steps:

Firstly, measure your brow angles to get the best shape. The brow should start at the inner corner of your eye and end just after the outer corner of your eye. To find out where the highest arch of your brow should be, draw an imaginary line from the corner of your nose through your outer pupil.
1. Gradually fill your brows using the Curtis Collection Brow sculpting Pencil in your shade, adding more colour to sparser areas and applying less at the start of your brows.
2. Use the Curtis Collection Gel Pot with with an angled brush to tidy and set hairs in place as the final finish.

Your Ceremony of the Sun Checklist

Its now that time again to get our bronzed goddess glow happening, and with our pro check list… you will be glowing in no time with tans that last a lifetime….

Always remember to exfoliate before tanning to remove any dead skin cells and/or previous tan. We recommend using the Bioline Jató Thalasso Dren Sea Salts Scrub with alge extract to help sooth and rehydrate the skin before hand.

Do not wax or shave at least 24 hours prior to tanning.

Do not moisturise or where any form of deodorant or perfume prior o tanning. Tans work best on dry, unperfumed skin.

Wear loose confortable clothing to avoid rubbing the tan off and staining of clothes on the day of your tan. Where slip on shoes if possible.

Do not shower, exercise vigorously, sweat or get wet for at least two hours after being tanned. The tanning cure time is two hours. Once the two hours have passed, you may then rinse in the shower using a light sulfate free body wash. Avoid any exfoliation at this point.

Avoid waxing after your tan. This will remove the tan. Avoid long hot showers or baths and prolonged swimming to lengthen the life of your tan. Keep your skin well nourished and deeply moisturised by using Bioline Jató’s Jatowell Vitalizing cream.
